COVID-19 Safety at the ORL

Keeping our libraries safe, and open, is a joint effort by Okanagan Regional Library Management, Staff, and Our Valued Customers. Work with us to keep our libraries safe!

How to Safely Visit Your Library

Follow these guidelines:

  • Masks are REQUIRED by the Public Health Office. Masks must be worn in public indoor spaces by everyone aged 5 and over.
  • Please do not visit the library if you are experiencing any respiratory or other COVID symptoms.
  • Follow good hand hygiene – sanitizer is available in all of our branches.
  • Follow good cough etiquette – cough or sneeze into your sleeve, immediately dispose of tissues in a garbage receptacle, wash your hands for 20 seconds or disinfect with hand sanitizer after coughing.
  • We encourage customers to use our self-checkout machines whenever possible.

Thank you. Your cooperation helps us keep our libraries safe and open!

Attending Library Programs in Person

When attending library programs, you must...

  • Show proof of vaccination (if you are 12 and older, as per Public Health Order)
  • Wear a mask at all times (if you are 5 and older)

Prefer to attend programs from home? We continue to offer online programs, sign up for Virtual Story Times for kids and families, or check out our online events for adults!

ORL Safety Procedures

  • We are now open and operating under COVID safety guidelines.
  • Limited capacity: we have established a maximum number of people who can be in each library at a time.
  • ORL staff wear masks on the public floor and maintain safe distances, where possible. Acrylic barriers remain in place at all service points.
  • ORL staff are following health screening and safe hygiene practices.
  • ORL continues with increased cleaning of our libraries, with increased janitorial service, and cleaning of high touch points during open hours.
