The Technical Assistant's primary function is to provide technical assistance for customers and staff. This includes technical training, trouble shooting and device support. In addition, this position may be required to assist with program design and delivery as well as provide tech support for meeting/classroom spaces and outreach activities including setting up equipment as needed for lessons or programs.
Grade 12, plus successful completion of post-secondary (college or university) coursework in computer science equivalent to two full terms of first year general computer science courses providing a broad background in hardware, software, networking and coding.
B. Experience
2 years’ technical support experience or formal teaching experience.
Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of modern tools from advanced software to a variety of equipment.
Experience with 3D printers, sound/recording equipment, video equipment, lighting and green screen studio.
Experience with Social Media Platforms.

Over the past year, the team at our Headquarters facility have worked hard to use a simplified LEAN process to streamline our workflows, decreasing time to shelf for new items by an estimated 40%, and the ability to make further gains.

A graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited institution is required.

The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) is seeking a senior leader to help shape the continuing transformation of public library services and the development of the library’s role as a learning organization, in alignment with the directions outlined in our current strategic plan (http://www.orl.bc.ca/about-us/policies-and-reports).

Two Directors of Public Service (DPS) share the responsibility of directing the public facing programs and services of the library. Both DPS incumbents report directly to the CEO, and are a key part of the senior management team, along with members from finance, technology, HR, and Administrative services. Each DPS takes on a portfolio of focus (currently these are ‘partnerships and programs’ and ‘the customer experience’) in addition to directly supervising managers in either the Southern or Northern ORL branches. The current vacancy will be assigned the Southern branches and the ‘customer experience’ portfolio to start, though assignments can change over time and through collaborative strategy developed at the senior management table.
