About the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL)
Located in beautiful British Columbia, the ORL stretches from Golden in the Rocky Mountains through the wine and fruit producing lands of the Okanagan Valley to the semi-desert Osoyoos at the US border. It is a vibrant library system, with 30 branches, serving 26 diverse communities, over 300 employees and a service population of over 400,000 people.
The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Branch Head Librarian, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing, delivery and evaluation of in branch services and programs. Public Services Librarians will be asked to participate on various committees to support system-wide library services, resources, and programs. This position may also be called on to support ORL with research required in support of strategic initiatives.
The Public Services Librarian liaises with community members, schools, service agencies and cultural organizations to determine community needs and promote library services and programs.
As an Auxiliary On-Call employee, the expectation is to provide coverage for the vacation and sick time of Permanent Employees. Auxiliary staff must be available for ‘Peak Times’ such as weekends, evenings, and days before and after holidays.
