DIY Galaxy Jar

Using a simple mason jar, you can create your very own galaxy!

Materials Needed:

  • Clean glass jar with a lid
  • Tempera Paint (at least 2 colors)
  • Cotton Balls (lots and lots)
  • Fine glitter
  • A stick or a knife
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Fill 1/3 of the jar with water.
  2. Add several drops of one color of paint to the water.
  3. Put the lid on and shake to mix the paint and water together.
  4. Add some of the glitter to the solution.
  5. Grab some of the cotton balls and stretch them out.
  6. Add them to the water until the bottom is filled with the cotton, pressing them down with either the stick or the knife.
  7. Fill another 1/3 of the jar with water.
  8. Add several drops of the other color of paint.
  9. Repeats steps 3-6, so the colors start to mix and blend together.
  10. Fill the final 1/3 of the jar with water.
  11. Repeat steps 2-6.

Make more than one and give them away to friends and family, so that everyone can have their very own galaxy in their hands!
