by ORL Marketing | Jan 16, 2019
Okanagan Regional Library is officially opening the doors to the Westside Learning Lab serving the Westbank and West Kelowna community on February 23rd at 10am.
Please join us to celebrate the opening of this new ORL location. Everyone is welcome to come and explore the space, have a slice of cake, enjoy some entertainment and take part in demos of trending new technology. There will be activities for all ages to explore 3D printing, try out the green screen, record your audio, create unique takeaways and much more. At 10am the event will start off with short speeches and recognition of all parties that made this project possible. It will be followed by refreshments, entertainment, and demos throughout the day.
Location:
Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre,
#216 – 525 Highway 97 S,
West Kelowna, BC.
Date: February 23rd, 2019
Time: 10am - 4pm
Open to the public
The focus of this new location is on learning, technology, and community partnership and will benefit many people and organizations on the Westside. The Westside Learning Lab will feature bookable community space and meeting rooms for events, programs and gatherings. A key component of the Learning Lab will be the maker space that will enable people to learn and use technologies related to 3D printing, material design, crafting, coding, robotics, electronics and more. A sound booth will also be available for recording audio projects such as family stories, practicing musical instruments, recording podcasts and conducting interviews online. This location will feature a small collection of materials and just like any other ORL branch, all library users will be able to pick up holds and return books at this location.
