With Libby, you can borrow from thousands of ebooks, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines—free with your ORL card. Whether you’re reading at home or travelling light, your next book is always within reach. Visit the ORL’s Digital Collection to start browsing.

Using Libby on a Phone or Tablet
Libby works with iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Fire tablets.
Getting started is quick:
Download the Libby app from your device’s app store.
Open the app and search for the Okanagan Regional Library.
Sign in with your library card number and PIN.
Note: Libby is not available for Windows devices, but you can use it in your browser at libbyapp.com.
Using Libby on an E-Reader
Newer Kobo E-Readers
Models such as the Libra, Forma, Aura ONE, Aura Edition 2, and Clara HD allow you to borrow ebooks directly over Wi-Fi, with no computer required. For more information, please visit our Kobo e-readers Help Page.
Other E-Readers
Older Kobo models and Nook devices require transferring ebooks from a computer using Adobe Digital Editions. For more information, please visit our other e-readers Help Page.
Kindle Compatibility
Due to Amazon restrictions, Kindle e-readers are not compatible with borrowing public library ebooks in Canada.
Read or Listen in Your Browser
You can read or listen without the Libby app using your web browser. An internet connection is required. For more information, please see the OverDrive Help Page.
Borrowing Policies
Ebooks and E-Audiobooks
Borrow up to 10 items at a time.
Loan periods of 7, 14, or 21 days.
Renew within 3 days of expiry if there are no holds.
Place up to 10 holds at once.
E-Magazines
Borrow unlimited titles.
Loan periods of 7, 14, or 21 days.
Renew within 3 days of expiry.
Always available with no holds required.
Finding and Borrowing Titles
Finding Titles
Search by title, author, or topic using the Search icon (magnifying glass).
Browse featured lists and collections using the Library icon (library building).
Select a title to view details, including summaries and availability.
Borrowing and Holds
If a title is available, select Borrow and choose a loan period.
If it is unavailable, select Place Hold to join the waitlist.
You will receive a notification when your hold is ready, and have 3 days to borrow it before your hold expires.
Reading, Listening, and Downloads
After Borrowing
Open Book or Open Audiobook to begin.
Go to Shelf to view your loans and holds.
Continue browsing for more titles.
Downloading Titles
Books download automatically on Wi-Fi.
To download manually, go to Shelf and select Download next to the title.
Reading or Listening Online
You can stream titles without downloading using an internet connection.
Managing Loans
Renewing Loans
Renew within 3 days of expiry through your Shelf.
Returning Early
Return items at any time from your Shelf to free up space for new loans.
Notifications and Settings
Notifications
Receive alerts when holds are ready or loans are due.
Manage Notifications
Adjust push or email notifications through the Menu and Settings.
Download Settings
Customize download preferences under Shelf and Actions.

Organize titles using tags to track what you have read or want to read.

Apply and save filters or sorting preferences for future searches.
