About the Role:
The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Page. This entry-level position is ideal for students or individuals with diversabilities who are eager to contribute to a welcoming, organized, and community-focused library environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort, organize, and shelve library materials according to established procedures
- Retrieve, return, and shift items on shelves; maintain tidiness of public areas
- Participate in shelf reading to ensure accurate order and record keeping
- Assist in the setup of seasonal displays and event spaces (as time allows)
- Respond to basic directional questions and refer inquiries to library staff
- Fulfill daily pick list duties
- Perform additional tasks or projects under supervision as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and conscientious work habits
- Demonstrated ability to file alphabetically and numerically with accuracy
- Reliable and punctual with a courteous and respectful demeanor
- Capable of physical tasks, including lifting book bins, pushing book trucks, and shifting collections
- Comfortable communicating with staff and the public in a tactful manner
Education and Experience:
- No formal education or experience is require
- On the job training provided
