About the Kit

Explore ergonomic mice designed to support natural posture, reduce strain, and create a more comfortable way to navigate your computer. Our Ergonomic Essentials: Mouse Edition kit is a practical, low-pressure way to try assistive technology at home before deciding what works best for you.

Created with input from the ORL’s Accessibility & Inclusion Advisory Committee, the Ergonomic Essentials kits help you explore accessibility tools in a try-before-you-buy format. Whether you’re experiencing hand or wrist strain, curious about alternative pointing devices, or learning more about inclusive technology, this kit is for everyone.

What You’ll Find in the Kit

Wired Vertical Mouse with Removable Palm Rest (Right-Handed)
Positions your hand in a natural “handshake” posture and includes a detachable palm rest for additional support.

Wired Vertical Ergonomic Mouse (Left-Handed)
A left-handed vertical design that supports balanced, strain-reducing positioning.

Wired Semi-Vertical Mouse (Right-Handed)
Gently tilts your hand to reduce tension while maintaining a familiar mouse feel.

Wired Trackball Mouse (Right-Handed)
Uses a rolling ball to control the cursor, reducing wrist and arm movement.

Multi-Touch Trackpad
A flat surface you tap and swipe to move the cursor—ideal if you prefer finger movement over gripping a traditional mouse.

How It Works

Plug the device into your computer using the USB connector. No software installation is required. Try each device during the loan period to see which style feels most natural and supportive for your daily tasks.

Helpful tip: reducing strain often comes from small changes such as relaxing your grip, adjusting pointer speed in your computer settings, or moving from your elbow instead of your wrist.
