Getting Started with Your Online Account
Welcome to your online ORL account. Set up your profile, manage your preferences, and learn how to use the library online.
Create Your Account
You’ll need an active ORL library card before creating an online account.
BiblioCommons is the ORL’s online catalogue system, where you can search the collection, place holds, and manage your library account. To create your ORL account, visit orl.bibliocommons.com and select Log In / Register.
Enter your library card number and PIN, then confirm your email address and birthday.
After registering, you’ll receive an email to verify your account.
Choose a Username
Create a username that does not include personal information.
Usernames can include letters, numbers, and underscores, and must be unique.
Your username will appear when you leave comments, reviews, or share lists.
Complete Your Setup
Finish your account by:
- Enabling Borrowing History (optional)
- Setting your preferred library branch
- Reviewing available items by location
Select All Done to start using the catalogue.
Manage Your Account
My Settings
Use My Settings to manage:
- Account information (email, username, PIN)
- Holds and pickup locations
- Borrowing History
- Privacy
Note: Turning off Borrowing History deletes your history permanently.
Privacy Settings
Control what others can see when you interact with the catalogue.
Adjust visibility for your shelves, activity, and shared content.
Update Your Profile
Add personal details, interests, or links—or leave your profile blank.
Help and Support
Reset Your PIN
Reset your PIN online if your email is on file. Otherwise, please contact your nearest branch.

Using the Former Catalogue
Access the previous catalogue at ipac.orl.bc.ca to search items, place holds, and manage your account.
Some features, such as reviews and shared lists, are not available.
