From travel prep to personal goals to finally figuring out how to roll your Rs, Rosetta Stone makes language learning accessible wherever you are. Whether you’re using a computer, smartphone, or tablet, the steps below will help you set up your account and start your first lesson.

Using Rosetta Stone on a Computer

Learn a new language with Rosetta Stone using the internet browser on your desktop or laptop computer. For the best experience, use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

Signing In and Creating an Account

Step 1

Open Rosetta Stone and sign in using your library card barcode and PIN.

Step 2

On the Rosetta Stone sign-in page:

  • Enter your email address
  • Create a password for your Rosetta Stone account
  • Select the language you would like to learn
  • Click Sign In

Your account helps save your progress and keeps track of your lessons.

Step 3

On the Rosetta Stone Language Learning Suite page, click Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations.

This page also includes technical support information, computer requirements, and progress reports for your language courses.

Step 4

Choose a course for your selected language. Courses vary in length and focus, including options for:

  • Reading and writing
  • Listening and speaking

Once you’ve selected a course, click Apply Changes to begin learning.

Changing Your Course

Want to try a different course within the same language?

Step 1

Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Rosetta Stone screen.

Step 2

In the Settings window, select Course.

Step 3

Next to Your Course, select Change your course settings.

Step 4

Choose your new course and click Apply Changes.

Changing Languages

Rosetta Stone allows you to learn more than one language.

Please note: you cannot switch languages during an active lesson.

To start learning a different language, return to the ORL’s Rosetta Stone sign-in page and select another language from there.

Using the Rosetta Stone App on a Smartphone or Tablet

You can also use Rosetta Stone on a smartphone or tablet using the free Rosetta Stone app.

Important: library users must first sign in through the ORL’s Rosetta Stone link in a mobile browser before using the app. Signing in directly through the app will not work for library access.

Setting Up the App with Your Library Account

Step 1

Download the free Rosetta Stone: Learn Languages app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Minimum requirements:

  • Android 5 or newer
  • iOS 11 or newer

Step 2

Do not open the app yet. Instead, open the web browser on your mobile device and visit the ORL’s Rosetta Stone access link. Sign in using your library card barcode and PIN.

Step 3

On the Rosetta Stone sign-in page:

  • Enter your email address
  • Create or enter your Rosetta Stone password
  • Select the language you want to learn
  • Tap Sign In

Step 4

Tap Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations.

Step 5

The Rosetta Stone app should open automatically and launch your course.

Seeing a Sign-In Screen Instead of Your Course?

If the app asks you to sign in manually:

  1. Tap Log In
  2. Under What type of account do you have?, tap Work and School
  3. Enter your email address and tap Next
  4. Enter your Rosetta Stone password and tap Next
  5. For Workspace or Namespace, enter: s8480496
  6. Tap Next

Your course should now open.

Returning to Your Lessons Later

Each time you use Rosetta Stone on a mobile device, begin by signing in through the ORL’s Rosetta Stone access link in your browser before opening the app.
