Exams in the Library

Distance Ed Student? Need to take an exam?

Select ORL branches offer exam invigilation for distance learners and other students. Invigilation means a library staff member will supervise your test.

Can My Library Help?

Not all branches offer exam supervision. Contact your local ORL branch to ask about availability. You can also check with your school for a list of approved locations.

Guidelines

Here are the general guidelines you need to follow if you want to take exams at the library:

Plan your exam

  • You’ll need a valid ORL card if you live in the Okanagan region.
  • Schedule with your branch staff at least one week in advance.
  • Bring ID and any required materials.
  • Confirm all technical needs, like computer access or special accommodations.

Exam Formats

  • Written exams may be taken in-library.
  • Online exams under 60 minutes may be taken on library computers.
  • Longer online exams may require your own laptop/device and school approval.
  • Public library computers automatically log users out after 60 minutes.

Important Notes

  • Exams must be completed during regular ORL open hours.
  • Library staff cannot monitor you for the full duration of longer exams.
  • You may need to pay for printing emailed exams (25¢/page).
  • Return fees may apply if your school does not provide a return envelope.

Final Reminder

Please review all exam requirements with your institution before scheduling your exam at the library. Good luck!
