There’s something exciting about meeting an author, especially when their stories are full of bold ideas, big energy, and a willingness to challenge the rules. This spring, the ORL’s Youth Services team is bringing that experience straight to your screen with our second online author visit of the season.
On 11 May, readers of all ages are invited to meet Jennifer Cooper, a writer who knows a thing or two about determination, storytelling, and showing up as your strongest self.
Jennifer Cooper is a writer, teacher, coach, and mom of three who brings her passion for empowering young athletes into everything she creates. During this live online visit, she’ll introduce her newest book, This Skirt Won’t Work!, and share the stories of women who didn’t just play the game, they changed it.
From cyclists and swimmers to hockey players who pushed past expectations (and sometimes dress codes), these stories highlight the creativity and courage it takes to move forward, even when the rules say otherwise. Expect a lively, engaging session filled with storytelling, ideas, and encouragement for young readers to think boldly about what they can do, and who they can be.
Registered participants will also be entered into a draw to win a book bundle, which is a pretty great bonus for showing up curious and ready to listen!
This online event is designed for Grades 1–4, and welcomes school classes, homeschoolers, and individual participants. Registration is required, and space is limited, so it’s worth reserving a spot early.
