Who doesn’t love a good giggle? From silly situations and unexpected surprises to outrageous characters and wonderfully ridiculous adventures, funny books make reading together even more fun. The ORL’s Youth Services librarians have put together a new ORL Reads: Laugh Out Loud! booklist featuring 10 hilarious picture books guaranteed to tickle your funny bone.
Here are five to get the giggles started!
Busting!, by Aaron Blabey
Poor Lou has a problem. He desperately needs to use the bathroom, but there’s a very long line! Packed with silly rhymes, outrageous situations, and plenty of toilet humour, this laugh-out-loud story will have young readers cheering Lou on.
Don’t Trust Fish, by Neil Sharpson
Fish seem harmless enough, but what are they really doing underwater? And what exactly are they learning in those schools? This wonderfully absurd picture book makes a hilarious case for why fish might be the most suspicious creatures in the animal kingdom.
