The Friends of the Library (FOL) help bring a lot of what we love about the ORL to life. So yes, we’re more than a little pleased to see the Kelowna FOL nominated for Best of Kelowna in the Best Book Store category.
Now comes the important part: to move forward into the official voting round, the FOL needs your nomination. If you’ve picked up a great read, discovered something unexpected, or simply enjoyed the experience of a Friends of the Library book sale, this is your chance to show your support. Nominations are open until 3:00 p.m. on 13 April.
If enough nominations come through, the Kelowna Friends of the Library will advance to the voting round, which begins at 10:00 a.m. on 1 May 2026.
Why it matters
The Friends of the Library play an important role in supporting the ORL through their book sales, helping fund programs, services, and enhancements in communities throughout the region. That impact was felt in a recent donation benefiting branches throughout the ORL. The Kelowna Downtown, Rutland, and Mission branches each received $5,000, while all other branches received $700.
