Art opens doors between people, ideas, and experiences we might not otherwise encounter. Through a new collaboration with the Vernon Public Art Gallery (VPAG), the ORL connects exhibitions with curated library collections. See the work, then engage further through the books and essays in the reading list.
Featured Exhibitions
Portals to Elsewhere by Amy J. Dyck transforms the gallery into a dreamlike, immersive environment. Dyck’s work draws on lived experience with disability and chronic illness, presenting layered, figurative pieces that blend human, animal, and mechanical forms. Her evolving installation invites viewers to reflect on resilience, adaptation, and the many ways we imagine belonging.
I’m in This World, Doing by Vivian Smith explores the often-unseen systems of labour that support daily life. Through mixed-media works incorporating textiles and photography, Smith highlights caregiving, domestic work, and invisible economies—encouraging viewers to reconsider how value and labour are understood in contemporary society.
Blooming Together by the Cool Arts Society celebrates collaboration, diversity, and shared growth. Featuring a large collective artwork alongside expressive clay masks, the exhibition reflects a vibrant community of artists whose individual perspectives come together to create something dynamic, layered, and deeply connected.
