North Shuswap Branch Celebrates Grand Opening

The Okanagan Regional Library’s North Shuswap Branch officially celebrated its grand opening on 11 March in Scotch Creek, welcoming an enthusiastic crowd of community members, supporters, and local partners.

After nearly two years of temporary service locations, the event marked a meaningful return to a permanent library space for the North Shuswap community.

Guests gathered to tour the new facility, reconnect with familiar library services, and celebrate the opening of a space designed to support reading, learning, and community connection for years to come.

Throughout the day, visitors explored the branch’s welcoming interior, browsed the collections, and spoke with library staff about upcoming programs and services. The turnout reflected just how important library spaces remain for residents across the North Shuswap.

While temporary locations allowed library services to continue over the past two years, the new branch represents something more lasting: a dedicated community space built with local needs in mind.

The ORL is grateful to everyone who helped make the return of this branch possible, including community members, partners, and supporters who continued to champion library service in the North Shuswap throughout the rebuilding process.

With its doors now open, the North Shuswap Branch is ready to welcome readers, families, students, and curious minds from across the region.
