As the holidays approach, we want to help you plan ahead for the Okanagan Regional Library’s Christmas and New Year’s Extended Closure, running from Tuesday, 23 December 2025 through Thursday, 1 January 2026. Branches will reopen on Friday, 2 January 2026, and book drop bins will remain closed throughout the break.

Why Pausing Holds Helps
The good news: you can keep your place in line by pausing your holds before the closure or adjusting their active dates.
How to Pause a Single Hold
- Log in to your ORL account.
- Select On Hold from the menu.
- Find the item you want to pause.
- Click Pause hold.
- When prompted, choose an end date (or start and end date), then confirm.
- Look for the confirmation message: “Successfully paused holds.”
How to Pause Multiple Holds
- Log in to your account and go to On Hold.
- If needed, filter by Not ready under the My Borrowing summary.
- Choose your items by checking individual boxes—or select all.
- A bar appears at the bottom. Click Manage items, then Pause holds.
- Choose your dates if prompted, and confirm.
- You’ll see: “Successfully paused holds.”
Prefer to Adjust Your Active Date Instead?
You can also keep your hold but change the date when you want it to become active again. This can be done:
- Through your online ORL account
- By visiting your local branch
- Or by calling us—staff are always happy to help
Whether you’re travelling, spending time with family, or hitting the slopes, managing your holds is quick, simple, and ensures your items arrive when you’re ready.
