It’s official: the ORL is now part of a magical tiny world where everything’s little… except our love of libraries!
The Downtown Kelowna Branch has been immortalized—adorably—in miniature at Little Canada, a popular tourist destination in Toronto that celebrates iconic Canadian locations through detailed, handcrafted dioramas. Sitting proudly among tiny cityscapes and pint-sized landmarks, our KL Branch has been lovingly shrunk down to Lilliputian proportions.
We didn’t even need to build a time machine to speak to Jonathan Swift, or ask our STEM Maker Educators to whip up a shrink ray.
While we’re not sure exactly what inspired Little Canada’s creators to choose our building, we like to think it’s because the KL Branch is a standout—a modern marvel of wood, light, and community spirit. Or maybe it just looked cool. Either way, we’re flattered.
For fans of Gulliver’s Travels, this feels like a full-circle moment. Like Gulliver landing in the land of Lilliput, our real-world library has wandered into a whimsical pocket universe where buses are smaller than paperclips and buildings can fit in your hand.
So, next time you’re in Toronto, stop by Little Canada to spot our miniature branch. It might be small, but to us, it’s a pretty big deal.
