The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) is seeking a passionate, visionary, and community-minded Branch Head II Librarian for two facilities that service growing communities in the City of West Kelowna, Regional District of the Central Okanagan, and the West Bank First Nation.   

The ORL Branch II Librarian is in a leadership role responsible for the effective administration and management of our existing Westbank branch and a new second facility opening later this year.  This new space is being designed for technology and learning, featuring flexible classrooms with modular furnishings and a makerspace. 

The successful candidate will bring with them proven experience in developing and maintaining partnerships, identifying learning opportunities and creating outreach responses.  The individual will be planning and organizing library branch resources and services to meet the community needs and interests.  They will develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and stay current with trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services.

Qualifications include a Master’s Degree from an accredited Library School and at least three years relevant public library experience, including one year in a supervisory position.

ORL is looking for customer focused, detail oriented professional for the position of Head of Collection Development.  Under the direction of the Director of Public Services, the Head of Collection Development leads the ORL’s collections strategy, its implementation, and its evaluation.  Operating within a centralized collection development model, the HCD uses an evidence-based approach to perform and direct selection, promotion, and de-acquisition of library materials and online services.

The incumbent must be proficient in budgeting, supervision, statistical analysis, bibliographic selection, collection promotion, purchasing, negotiation, and vendor relations.  The HCD recommends introducing new formats and eliminating outdated collections. Annual budgets; department policies; procedures on weeding, acquisitions and all aspects of the selection process are developed by the HCD.

The Okanagan Regional Library has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate in the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role on their leadership team.

We’re looking for a solution focused, creative thinker with exceptional communication skills to lead our financial team.  The incumbent will perform complex administrative, supervisory, and professional accounting work at the senior management level, including  planning and directing fiscal administration for the Library, delivering leadership and direction to assigned financial and administrative support services (accounting, property acquisition and maintenance, wage and benefit administration), and preparing the annual budget and overseeing expenditure control. 

In addition, the incumbent negotiates and administers leases and facility maintenance contracts, oversees repair and maintenance for all library buildings and develops annual operating and capital budget estimates for the maintenance of library buildings.   

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative leader with exceptional communication and leadership skills.  The individual will hold a CPA designation and have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a senior financial management position and some experience working successfully with a large political Board.
