For Sony Reader Wifi PRST1, 2, or 3, or older Sony Reader models (e.g., PRS500).
1. Do you have access to a personal computer and are comfortable using computers?
You will have to download software to your computer to allow you to borrow eBooks from the ORL when using the Sony Reader.
2. Do you have an ORL card and PIN code?
You will need both to borrow digital books. If you do not know your PIN code, please visit your closest library branch.You can also reset your PIN code online if your email address is associated with your library account.
Install the Sony Reader program on to your computer. The Sony Reader program is used to authorise your Reader, manages the eBooks you have borrowed from the ORL and is used to transfer the book to the Sony Reader.

Select your Reader Model, then select your computer's operating system to download the appropriate program for your computer.
Once the Sony Reader program is installed, you will need to authorize your computer and the Sony Reader with an Adobe ID.
From the Sony Reader program, click on the Info button in the top right corner.
Click on Authorize found under the Reader for PC/Mac heading.
A pop-up box will appear where you can type in your Adobe ID and password.
If you don not have an Adobe ID, click on the link in the box asking you to create an Adobe ID. You will be taken to Adobe’s website to complete Adobe ID creation.
Go back to the Sony Reader program and fill your Adobe ID credentials and click on Ok.
Plug in the Sony Reader to the computer using the cable provided with the Reader.
Tap Data Transfer Mode on the Reader to complete the connection.
The Sony Reader will appear on the Info screen of the Sony Reader program and become automatically authorized with the Adobe ID.
Please note that Sony Reader Wifi can no longer supports directly download eBooks from the library on to it. We apologize for any inconvenience this change has caused.

You can download library eBook titles to the Sony Reader program and then transfer them to your Sony Reader Wifi following the instructions below.
Visit the ORL eBooks collection at https://orl.overdrive.com on the browser of your computer.
Sign in (at the top right hand corner) to your account using your library card number and PIN (password). You are ready to borrow eBooks!
Search for titles or authors in the search box, or browse by Subjects or Collections.
When you find your eBook, click on Borrow to check it out, or Place a Hold to join the wait list if the eBook is out on loan (found under the cover image).
To view the eBooks you have borrowed: Select Loans in the blue banner at the top of the screen (appears when you borrow an eBook) or select the Books icon or My account > Loans.
From your Loans page, click the Download button next to the book, and choose the eBook format you wish to download for your eReader.
Depending on your computer:
Choose to Open the file with the Sony Reader program, from the options that pop-up.
Or, select Save from the pop-up box, once the download is complete, select Open with from the pop-up box, and choose to open the file with the Sony Reader program.
Connect your Sony Reader to your computer.
Tap the Data transfer mode button on the Sony Reader
On the Sony Reader program on the computer, click on the Reader tab that appears when your Sony Reader is recognized, click on Sync in the top right corner.
This will add the eBooks you have downloaded to the eReader.
Once Sync is complete, click on the Eject icon next the Reader tab on the Sony Reader program.
Unplug your Sony Reader and find the eBooks in your Books (or Bookshelves) folder on your Reader.
You may renew your digital book, if there are no holds on the title.
Three days before your book is due, a Request again link will become available under the cover image of the borrowed book on the Loans page of your account on the ORL eBooks website.
Click on the Request again link to open the form. Confirm your email address and click the Submit. You will get an email when the title becomes available for check-out at the end of its initial loan period, after which you can check out the title again from the Holds page in your account and re-download it.
If there are holds on the book, filling out the Request again form will add you to the wait list for the book.
From the Sony Reader program on your computer:
Click on the book you would like to return.
Click on the return to library icon at the bottom of the program screen.
Please note that Open EPUB and Open PDF formatted books cannot be returned early).
