Most local branch libraries have small ongoing book sales from a cart or shelf. Proceeds from these sales go directly towards support of the local branch’s facilities, programs or services.

Many branches periodically host large book sales, in most cases run by local Friends of the Library groups. Forty per cent of these sale proceeds go back to the library for use on system-wide improvements, while 60% of the proceeds are kept by the Friends for future improvements in local branch services.
